Delete your account

Last updated October 9, 2026

Tisai, the travel guide built from what people who know a place have shared, lets you delete your account and what is in it at any time, from inside the app. This page explains how, what is erased, and the little that is kept.

Delete it in the app

The same steps work on Android and on iPhone:

  1. Open Tisai and go to Me.
  2. Tap the gear at the top to open Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap Delete my account.
  4. Tisai says what will be erased. Tap Delete everything to confirm, or Keep my account to stop.

It happens right away. Tisai then starts over on that phone as a new, empty account.

Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. On Android, a phone set up again from your Google account backup can even bring the same account back. To erase it, use Delete my account first.

What is erased

  • Your journal pages, with their photos and voice note recordings.
  • The words of your questions and of the stories you told.
  • What Tisai learned about your taste.
  • Your first name, your username and your picture. Your tips are no longer shown under your name.
  • Your friends, the people you blocked, your saved places, and what you opened and saved in the feed.
  • The words of your comments. An erased comment leaves an empty space, so other people's replies stay in order.
  • Anything in Recently deleted, for good.
  • Tips that had not been confirmed yet, and the code that sent notifications to your phone.

Your tips come out of the guide, so they no longer appear in anyone's answers.

What is kept, and why

  • The text of your removed tips, without your name. Answers other people already received were built from them, and each use of a tip is recorded so that what contributors helped with adds up. The tip is marked removed and is never shown again.
  • A question of yours that Tisai passed on to locals, without your name, and the answers locals gave to it, which are theirs.
  • Counts kept for limits and costs: how many requests were made and what each answer cost to make, under an account number that no longer leads to you.
  • Reports you or others made about content stay with Tisai's team, so the review is complete.

Deletion takes effect in our database at once. Copies inside the automatic backups of our database host are not edited one by one; they are replaced on the host's own schedule.

If you can't use the app

If you no longer have the phone, or the app will not open, write to hello@tisai.app with the subject "Delete my account". Tell us your username, and if you can, roughly when you started and a post or tip of yours, so we can find the right account (Tisai has no email or phone number to look you up by). We will delete it and reply within 30 days.

You can also delete single things without deleting your account: a post, a tip, a comment, a question, or what Tisai learned about your taste. See the privacy policy for everything Tisai collects and your other choices.
